Mt. Bachelor opens 635 Acres of new Terrain

On Friday December 16, Mt. Bachelor (Oregon) opened a new lift and added 635 acres of new terrain and 13 new trails making it one of the largest improvement projects in the history of Mt. Bachelor. The new lift, named “Cloudchaser”, is a new high-speed detachable quad chairlift that will occupy the east side. If you’ve never heard of Mt. Bachelor, here are some things you should know on why this is great news.

This Christmas, Squaw Valley / Alpine Meadows is offering skiers the ability to ski and ride along with Chief Mountain Host and Olympic Gold Medalist, Jonny Moseley. There a various dates and times during the week where any pass holders can join Jonny Mosely for a free 2 hour mountain tour of Squaw Valley or Alpine Meadows. You must be at least an intermediate skier to join the tours.

Jackson Hole is having a great snow season. The have already received close to 10 feet of snow in December alone. This is the most snow in up to this date in 40 years at Jackson Hole. If you are lucky enough to be at Jackson Hole during Christmas week and New Year’s and you have a family, you’ll want to check out the various activities they’ll be putting on including their “Cats and Dogs” (Snow Cats and Avalanche Dogs) event, the Fall Line Camp, Torchlight Parade and fireworks. On New Year’s Eve, you can enter the New Year at the top of the gondola at their Piste Restaurant (which sits at 9095 feet) and enjoy the “Gondi Gala”.

Cannon Mountain Continues to go green

Cannon Mountain (New Hampshire) is investing $5.1 million into an energy efficiency initiative to that will significantly increase snowmaking capabilities and reduce resort energy consumption by 30%. Yes, going green can be good for the environment and be smart for business at the same time. 388 new high efficiency tower guns will be installed. Also, they are completing their Mittersill Improvement Project with the addition of a new T-Bar lift.
