Winter Resorts in the News (Feb. 9, 2017)

February is the time of year when skiers and riders can fill their month with skiing on solid bases with some excellent snow. It’s also a month with President’s Day weekend, Valentine’s Day, Skiing/Boarding Camps, and many more events to get you out there on the slopes. Here are some events going on at different resorts around North America.

Vail Resorts is holding a special promotion starting at midnight on February 14 for 96 hours. They will have deals saving you up to 45 percent off vacations to their different mountains. Vail Resorts includes numerous iconic mountain destinations include: Vail, Beaver Creek, Breckenridge, Keystone, Park City, Heavenly, Northstar, Kirkwood and Grand Teton National Park. If you are thinking of a ski trip this winter, check it out. It may be a real score.


Loveland Events

Loveland has a full month of fun events. It kicks off on Thursday the 9th with Ski Hooky Day. Tickets are only $25. If you’re single, On February 11, you can come out and join their Chairlift speed dating event. If you already have a special someone, Loveland is holding their 26th Annual Mountaintop Matrimony. This is a Valentine's Day tradition where couples tie the knot or renew vows high atop the Continental Divide is a mass wedding ceremony. Lift tickets are 2 for 1.


Mogul Camp with an Olympian

Would you like to turn up your skiing a notch with the help of an Olympian? Olympic Gold Medalist, Donna Weinbrecht is holding multiple 2 day camps focused on moguls at Killington. Weinbrecht has won pretty much every kind of event in mogul skiing including being a five time FIS World Cup Titles, 46 individual World Cup mogul event wins, and 7 U.S. National Championship Titles. Weinbrecht and her coaches will definitely help you go that next step. Camp includes lift tickets, 2 days of coaching, video analysis, and more. Check out their website for all of the details.


A Day at the Parlor Skis

Have you ever wondered what it’s like to make skis? New England’s own, Parlor Skis, just put out a video showing what a day at the Boston shop is like. If you are not familiar with Parlor, check them out. We’ve also written about them in the past. They build custom skis for you, logo and all. On top of that, you can attend their sessions where you can build your own skis from start to finish. Pretty cool! Here’s the video shot & edited by Paul Chareth & Nick Abreu.

Mt Bachelor and Oregon Party on with Winterfest

Don’t fight winter, celebrate it! That’s how we feel at PowderCam and that’s how they do it in Oregon and Mt Bachelor. February 17-19, you can join the celebration in an adventure-packed weekend at Oregon WinterFest in the heart of Bend.


3 Day Heli-Ski Camp at Telluride

Telluride is known for some magnificent scenery. A great way to catch even more of that beauty and combine it with skiing is to go heli-skiing. This is a 3 day camp that runs at various times during the season. If you have ever thought about doing heli-skiing, but weren’t sure you could do it, take a look at these camps. Remaining session dates: February 9-11, February 23-25, March 30-April 1, 2017.


Grand Opening - Green Peak Triple Lift at Waterville Valley

With the recent expansion at Waterville Valley, they will be opening their new Green Peak Triple Lift on Saturday, February 11th. At 10 a.m., they will celebrate with an opening ceremony and ribbon cutting. The new Green Peak Expansion is the Resort’s biggest expansion in over 30 years and the only ski resort expansion on the East Coast this year.


$14 Valentine's Day Lift Tickets at Sugarbush

If you can sneak out with your loved one on Valentine’s Day, do it. Not only do you have mid-week skiing, but numerous resorts have 2-for-1 deals going on. At Sugarbush, you can ski or ride for only $14 on Tuesday, February 14th. No need to buy the tickets online. You can get them at the ticket window.
