Snow continues to dump at Snowbird

Let’s face it, there are areas in the U.S. that are getting dumped on with snow. Being located on the east coast, we get a little jealous. There is nothing like skiing or riding on fresh powder. Over 9 feet of snow has fallen on Breckenridge so far this season which is at 153% of snowfall for this time of year. So far in January, Snowbird has received over 6 feet of snow and we still have 12 more days to go. In order to get you craving those type of conditions, Snowbird put together a little video to temp you.


Happy World Snowboard Day!

Sunday January 22 is World Snowboard Day. 33 events in 15 countries celebrating everything about snowboarding from snowboard lessons, concerts, product demos, equipment tests, and more. The goal of the international organization is to promote the sport and its unique subculture by providing the general public with the opportunity to try a variety of activities for free.

Sugarloaf is celebrating the day with Burton Board demos and a free premiere of the movie Transworld's Insight.


Grand Teton and Grand Targhee hosts Snow Fest (January 19)

Grand Teton is one of the most beautiful places in winter and so why not embrace it. On January 19 – 22 Grand Teton and the Teton Valley is holding their Snow Fest where they will have a full weekend of events with numerous activities, competitions, and entertainment. It will include a backcountry film festival, snow plane exhibition, snow sculpting, fat bike races, and more.


Mad River hosts Junior Unconventional Terrain Competition (January 21)

Mad River Glen is known for their natural snow and ungroomed terrain. In line with what makes them special, there are hosting their annual Junior Unconventional Terrain Competition on January 21. The event challenges young skiers against the challenging terrain that Mad River Glen offers. The competition is for skiers 14 and younger and attracts many of the top skiers from the region. Top finishers will qualify for the flagship Triple Crown Unconventional Terrain as well as all the Ski The East Freeride Tour events. Slots are limited.


Loon Jan. 21-22: Women's Performance Camp Session 1

Loon Mountain is running a Women's Performance Camp. Presented by the K2 Ski Alliance and run by women, for women, these two-day camps feature more than 12 hours of women-to-women coaching, video review and the opportunity to demo the latest skis from K2.


College X Pass for the X Games

From January 26 – 29, Aspen Snowmass will be hosting the X-Games. College students can enjoy two days of skiing / riding on all four mountains at Aspen Snowmass during X Games for just $87. The X Games are celebrating its 15th year at Aspen Snowmass and it has become one of the the premier winter sports festivals in the world with more than 200 world-class athletes competing in various winter sports. The festival also includes musical performances and interactive festival elements.


The Brighton 80th Anniversary Wish List

Have you ever wished you could do something on your favorite mountain? Maybe it’s having a full ski day with a pro? Or being able to go into the backcountry with a snowcat? Or adding that super-cool jib on the terrain park? Brighton Resort wants to make that wish come true with The Brighton Resort Anniversary Wish List. In celebrating their 80th anniversary, Brighton Resort is letting people submit their wishes. Brighton will then choose their favorite three wishes on January 27th to be fulfilled. January is Learn to Ski and Snowboard Month

Most of us who love to ski or snowboard know people that have never tried our beloved sport. January is Learn to Ski and Snowboard Month across the country and there is no better time to get those friends and family members on the slopes. Examples of some saving, at Cranmore, you can learn to ski or ride for only $39. Many of the available deals include lift ticket and rental equipment. At Killington, packages are only $49. Regularly, a package like this costs $135. So, get those friends, co-workers, and family out there.
