Spring Skiing is in Full Swing
This is the time of year where resorts across the United States and Canada will begin celebrating the spring with beach parties, pond-skimming events, music festivals, and other fun events to celebrate the ski season. As well, we are starting to get feedback on when the different mountains will be closing. 8 to 12 inches of fresh snow is expected in some areas of the East Coast which should help keep things going until Mid-April. Out West, some resorts will be closing soon, but the Tahoe area which got slammed this winter with record snowfall will be going for a while longer. In Colorado, Arapahoe Basin is planning on closing June 11, but most resorts will be closing within the next 3 weeks. So, get out there and enjoy it while you can. Whistler Hosts World Ski & Snowboard Festival
The World Ski and Snowboard Festival is back again at Whistler this year. This event will be taking place April 7 – 16. The festival that takes the spirit of spring in Whistler and mixes it with the best of their mountain culture for a 10 day non-stop, celebration including art, music, photography, filmmaking, ski and snowboard competitions and non-stop nightlife.
Mount Snow celebrates their 9th Annual Winter Brewers Festival
On Saturday April 1, Mount Snow will be holding their 9th Annual Winter Brewers Festival. It’s hard to beat skiing/riding, music, and beer. This event features 20+ of New England’s finest breweries serving up different beer and cider. As well as the drinks, you can also enjoy some live music on the Cuzzins stage. Tickets for the event are $15 (online discount of $10) for adults and include 2 beer tokens and a souvenir glass. Additional drink tokens are available inside the festival for $3 per pour. Event takes place from Noon to 5pm.
April Fool’s $1 Day at Waterville Valley
For this on the East Coast, don’t forget about Waterville Valleys April Fool Special on March 31. Lift tickets for $1! Waterville Valley is putting on their April Fool’s Day special where you can purchase lift tickets for $1. What’s the catch? It’s April Fools, so the actual date is Friday March 31 and NOT on April 1. …and they are not alone with April Fools Deals. Attitash and Wildcat are offering $9 lift tickets on March 31.
"$25 Days" Beach Party at Ski Cooper
It’s the final days of skiing for the season. At Ski Cooper they’re celebrating their last week of the year by throwing a Beach Party all week (from April 3 through April 9). Each day, lift tickets are $25 all week long. On top of that, they’ll have beach tunes & beach drink specials. It’s a great way to celebrate the end of the year.
Gelandespring & End of Season Celebration at Sugarbush
On April 1, Sugarbush will be holding Gelandesprung. This event allows skiers to show off their long distance jumping skills. This is a family friendly competition for all ages and abilities. Prizes are awarded for longest jump winner in various categories. If jumping is not your thing, hang out on the deck this weekend and celebrate another great season at Mt. Ellen.
Bacon Appreciation Day at Buttermilk
Here’s something you don’t celebrate every day. Bacon! On Sunday, April 2, in celebration of Buttermilk’s closing day, the mountain hosts its annual Bacon Appreciation Day. Buttermilk will have numerous events featuring all things bacon. Bacon waffles morning, bacon samplers throughout the day, and a bacon and beer happy hour.
