Aspen Highlands is part of the Aspen Snowmass resorts which includes Snowmass, Aspen Mountain (Ajax), Aspen Highlands and Buttermilk. Each mountain has its own personality. This means you get access to four mountains on one lift ticket offering skiers/boarders a large variety of terrain covering 5,300 acres all close to the town of Aspen giving you access to a large amount of dining, nightlife, and shopping. Shuttle buses travel between all of the mountains, the town, and most condominium complexes. All of this makes Aspen Snowmass one of the world’s most popular ski resorts and one of the best overall resorts rated by Ski Magazine.

Of the four mountains, Aspen Highlands is a relatively new mountain that opened in the 2000s. With a 12,393 foot peak, it's the more difficult one out of the four Aspen Mountains and one of the most thrilling mountains in Colorado for an advanced skier. Aspen Highlands has wide-open steep groomers, bumps, glades, and bowls. Some riders like to hike the summit of Highland Bowl for the ultimate backcountry rush. Aspen Highlands is mostly blue/black runs and is best for intermediate to advanced skiers. It is not a good place for beginners. This means you’ll find less people at Aspen Highlands making for smaller crowds and minimal lift lines.

If you decide to take the challenge and hike the Highland Bowl at Aspen Highlands, it will take some stamina as it is a long hike. The runs are steep and this is best for expert skiers. But, the experience and the views are incredible.

Aspen Highlands Recommended Trails:

The Highland Bowl, Deep Temerity Glades, Olympic Bowl, Golden Horn, Boomerang Woods, Steeplechase, Gunbarrel, and Sodbuster are all challenging areas.

Aspen Highlands Tips:
