Mont Tremblant, located in the Laurentian mountain range of Quebec, Canada is consistently one of the top rated mountains in the eastern U.S. and Canada for overall satisfaction. Located about 80 miles north of Montreal, Mont Tremblant can be a long drive for many to get there. But, once you arrive, you will be offered a one-of-a-kind experience both on the mountain and within the European-style pedestrian village located at its base. Numerous non-skiing activities also give Mont Tremblant high ratings as one of the top family resorts.

Mont Tremblant Village

For skiing, you will be able to ride both sides of the mountain. So, be aware of what side you are on, especially at the end of the day. Mont Tremblant receives abundant snowfalls and has an extensive snow-making infrastructure. With 96 trails and 662 acres of skiable terrain, there is great variety for all levels from beginners to experts. With an elevation of 2,871, you’ll get amazing views from the top in the large lodge. In the winter, the mountain gets some very windy and cold days. So, bundle up and use the gondola.

One of the unique things about Mont Tremblant is the pedestrian only village. It has numerous dining, night-life, lodging and shopping options. The colorful buildings and the lift crossing the village to the base of the mountain make this resort stand out from others in the eastern U.S and Canada. When you are ready to take a break, you do not head down the hill to the lodge. Rather, you head down to the village with various restaurants available, place your skis in the ski rack and walk straight into the restaurant. With numerous hotels in the village, it is also very easy to head back to your room during the day. While this is cool, Mont Tremblant can be expensive. There is also a casino on the resort.

Mont Tremblant is a beautiful place, but it is not perfect. The ski hill is best for people staying in the village. People needing parking and a place to change into their boots (a typical ski lodge) will find it a little difficult. For parking, you have to arrive very early or else park far away and take a shuttle. If you need to put on ski boots and get ready for the day, you actually need to do it in a facility located before boarding the lift that crosses the village to the base of the hill. This location is not very practical if you brought your lunch or just want to take breaks during the day. If you are staying in the village of Mont Tremblant, you are all set and will enjoy your time.

Mont Tremblant Tips:

  • Parking near the base of Mont Tremblant is small. Arrive early or you will need to park and take a shuttle.
  • Take advantage of American holidays that are not holidays in Canada to avoid crowds.
