Mt. Baw Baw Alpine Resort is located in the Baw Baw National Park and at 2.5 hours away, it is the closest ski area to Melbourne, Australia. Although the mountain only has 15 trails and 86 acres (35 hectares) of terrain, this is an excellent place for beginners to learn to ski or snowboard with simple lifts (T-bar and poma), rental facility, and a snow sports school offering lessons to adults and children. There are two terrain parks.

With an elevation of 5,141, Mt Baw Baw offers some excellent scenery. The village has a friendly atmosphere and offers various accommodations, restaurants, retail stores, and other activities including 10kms of groomed x-country ski trails and dog sled tours. This is not a good place for advance and expert skiers looking for challenging terrain. It is a mountain that offers a good facility for beginners at a reasonable price compared to other mountains in the region.
