Saddleback Mountain, located in Western Maine, is the perfect definition if you are interested in finding a hidden gem. Saddleback Mountain is a tall mountain for the east coast of the United States at 4,120 feet. It offers gorgeous views of mountains, waterfalls, and moose. The Saddleback Mountain is hard to get to which in-turn tends to make people less motivated to go there. But, that also make is not crowded. But if you are willing to take the back roads and go to Saddleback Mountain, you won’t be disappointed. With 66 runs, this is a terrific mountain with varied trails. There is terrain to challenge even the best skiers with great mogul runs, beautiful glades, and nice cruisers. But, Saddleback Mountain also has a large number of beginner trails (35%) making this an ideal place for young families learning to ski. Ski Magazine ranks Saddleback Mountain as one of the top family resorts in the east. There is a great ski school boasting low student-to-instructor ratios where children can learn while the grown-ups can attack the harder runs and some of the best glades in the east on Casablanca.
One of the few complaints skiers and riders have about Saddleback Mountain is that there are lifts that are old and slow. But, they are investing in the lift system. Plus, most skiers don’t mind since the lines are uncrowded and they can take in the incredible views. Saddleback Mountain has a terrific base lodge, a very friendly laid-back staff, affordable skiing and riding and all of Saddleback Mountain's mountain lodging has ski-in/ski-out access. Great natural snow, excellent grooming, terrain for all levels, no crowds, and great value make this a favorite.
