Snowbird Ski Resort is one of the best resorts in the U.S. known for its ample amount of snow and challenging terrain. It is located approximately 45 minutes from Salt Lake City International airport and is easily accessible. Snowbird Ski Resort is a powder lover’s dream with over 500 inches of ultra-light powder falling annually allowing them to boast the longest ski season in Utah. The mountain boasts a 3,240 foot vertical covering 2,500 acres of terrain and 169 runs.
People love this place. Snowbird Ski Resort is first class for skiing/boarding with lots of high speed chairs to the top, helpful employees, and well maintained snow. While there are lots of good runs for all levels, the mountain is best for very good skiers. Most of the terrain here is rated black or double-black and there is no shortage of steep, technically challenging lines. You’ll need to watch for the "Warning - Cliff" signs. There will also be times that the mountain is basically shut down due to avalanche control. Needless to say, if you like groomers, Snowbird Ski Resort is not the place for you. Many of the trails are too challenging for kids and "cruiser" skiers and is best for expert level skiers.
The only knock on Snowbird Ski Resort is that there is very little nightlife and not much of a restaurant scene. If it's partying you are looking for, this isn't the place for it. Snowbird Ski Resort exists solely for skiing, boarding and little else. But, a powder day here is unforgettable.
