Stratton Mountain is one of the largest ski mountains in southern Vermont in the United States. It is the highest peak in the area with a 2,003 vertical drop and 97 trails and more than 160 acres of glades. It has highly rated terrain parks, fabulous grooming, and a varied terrain. Stratton Mountain also has a good lift system including a gondola and numerous 6-passenger lifts. There is also expansive snowmaking covering 93% of the trails.

One of the nicest mountains in Southern Vermont with a quaint village with shops and restaurants located at the mountain, Stratton Mountain is great place for a weekend getaways with full amenities. There are plenty of options for ski-in, ski-out lodging and there are numerous dining options. All of these amenities make Stratton Mountain a popular mountain for people from NYC area and can make this place crowded during peak days. Also, it can be expensive. So, Stratton Mountain is not a good place for skiers/boarders on a budget.

Overall, Stratton Mountain is great for families with a lot of varied terrain that keeps young and old happy. There are not a lot of steep trails, but you’ll get nicely groomed trails, speedy lifts, and a large number of glades can keep expert skiers busy.

Stratton Mountain Tips:

  • On crowded days, head to the Sun Bowl
  • Stratton Mountain offers a “Great Snow Guarantee,” ski or ride for an hour (any day, any hour) and if you are not happy Stratton Mountain will give you credit toward another day.
  • If you are looking for somewhere off the mountain to eat, check out The Red Fox Inn. It is about 5 minutes from the base of Stratton Mountain. The restaurant has live entertainment and often flies acts in from New Orleans.
