Telluride Ski Resort is located in a remote area in the southwest corner of Colorado in the U.S. It boasts some of the steepest, deepest and most diverse terrain of any ski resort in the U.S. and with its average of more than 300 inches of snow annually along with 300 days of sunshine each year, Telluride Ski Resort should be on any skiers bucket list. Telluride Ski Resort is home to more than 2,000 acres of terrain with a top elevation of 13,150 feet and a whopping 4,425 foot vertical drop. With 147 trails over this huge mountain and uniquely breathtaking scenery, it’s easy to see why Telluride Ski Resort is rated as one of the top overall mountains by numerous ski magazines.
Telluride Ski Resort sits in the San Juan Mountains, among the tallest peaks in Colorado. So it’s not surprising that the resort is known for its steep and expert terrain. But, with 23% of trails designated as beginner runs and 36% for intermediate, there are plenty of long trails for skiers of all levels at Telluride Ski Resort. Intermediates will find nice glades and advanced skiers can get everything imaginable from glades, long mogul runs, bowls, and chutes in hike-to terrain.
The only downside is that Telluride Ski Resort can be hard to get to with no interstate or nearby airports. It's hidden in the San Juan Mountains and it takes about 1.5 hours to drive from the Montrose Airport. But difficult access means short lines. You’ll get that feeling of being left alone in what Telluride Ski Resort calls “the most beautiful place you’ll ever ski”. Although it is a little hard to get to and it can be pricy, it will be worth it. Telluride Ski Resort is the perfect combination of great town, skiing, people, and views along with excellent staff and service.
