Thredbo Ski Resort is located in Kosciuszko National Park along the Great Dividing Range in New South Wales, Australia about a 6 hour drive from Sydney or Melbourne. It has an access point to Australia’s highest point, Mt. Kosciuszko, via the Kosciuszko Express chairlift. Thredbo Ski Resort has some of Australia’s longest and steepest trails and although it has less trails (50 trails) than the larger Perisher resort, it is often compared to it for its challenging terrain and vibrant village with many people preferring Thredbo Ski Resort.
With 1,186 acres of terrain, a vertical drop of 2,205 feet, and 84% of its runs dedicated to intermediate and advanced skiers/snowboarders, many people enjoy the challenging layout of Thredbo Ski Resort. The terrain consists of long runs and some of the steepest trails you will find in Australia. Regardless, Thredbo Ski Resort has terrain for every skill level. Friday Flat has been specially designed with beginner skiers and boarders in mind with a gentle slope. For intermediates, there are plenty of long, wide, tree-lined cruisers. Advanced skiers will find powder bowls and plenty of off-piste areas. Also, Thredbo Ski Resort has 5 terrain parks. This varied terrain along with extensive snowmaking capabilities will satisfy most everyone.
Thredbo Ski Resort sits at the base of the mountain and is renowned for having a vibrant atmosphere with a fabulous night-life and après-ski. You’ll find a European atmosphere with excellent cafes and restaurants with fine gourmet delights, hearty meals, and tasty treats that will satisfy a variety of people.
