Waterville Valley Resort, located in the White Mountains of New Hampshire, is a modest ski area, but with great trails and very nice facilities. It has an old-school mountain feel to it but still has numerous amenities including an excellent ski/snowboarding school to make it a popular and highly rated family resort. It is fairly easy to access the mountain and it has varied terrain. They put a lot of effort into their 4 terrain parks which are rated as one of the top in the eastern U.S by Ski Magazine.
This is a small mountain with 60 trails, but it has a nice vertical drop of 2,020 feet and provides intermediate skiers with a lot of terrain including some good intermediate glades for non-expert skiers wanting the experience. The trails are well maintained with 100% snow coverage across 220 acres. Waterville Valley Resort does not overly crowded (except on school vacation weeks) but it can get hard to find tables during lunch time. The parking area and set up is not efficient making it necessary to lug equipment a distance. The skier/equipment drop-off area can get crazy.
