Located in northern New York State in the Adirondacks, Whiteface Mountain was the Olympic Mountain of the 1980 Winter Games. So, not only can you find great skiing but you will also find ski jumps, bobsledding, and other Olympic related facilities making this the home for many Olympians. Whiteface Mountain has a 3,430 feet vertical drop which is the largest in the eastern United States giving Whiteface Mountain some of the most challenging terrain in the U.S. and some amazing scenery. There are 288 skiable acres spread across 86 trails and 5 terrain parks.

Along with the challenging terrain and scenic views on the mountain, what makes Whiteface Mountain extra special is the wonderful ski town and the off mountain activities. Nearby Lake Placid is a quaint small town located near a culinary school. With access to a large amount of culinary talent, you can’t go wrong at many of the restaurants in Lake Placid making it highly rated for dining and après-ski. The Olympic facilities at Whiteface Mountain gives you the ability to try or see things like ski jumping and bobsledding. Whiteface Mountain can be a little hard to get to and the mountain can get icy. But, with all it has to offer, this is a great destination that is well worth it.

  • Skyward – A steep wide-open run with unbeatable views of the Adirondacks.
  • Lookout Below - Rarely groomed, narrow, and steep.
  • The Slides – This is an expert only trail with waterfalls, cliff drops, glades, and steep, narrow chutes with the highest vertical drop in the Northeastern U.S.
