Located just north of Chicago and south of Milwaukee, Wilmot Mountain provides a small but easy to drive to skiing/riding mountain. Although Wilmot Mountain is not a large mountain, it is a long-time favorite for many in the area. The mountain was founded in 1938 and was family-owned up to 2016 when it was purchase by Vail Resorts.

The mountain is mostly served by locals looking for a short drive where they can get some time on the slopes. The mountain has 120 acres including 23 trails and a terrain park. With the purchase, Vail Resorts spent $13 million in improvements to modernize the resort which included new lifts, two new surface conveyor lifts in the beginner area, and a modernized and transformed lodge. A new expanded terrain park offers unique and innovative features designed and created by terrain park staff at the Company’s western resorts.
The mountain is well known among many skiers who first learned how to ski at Wilmot and is looked at fondly. With the short drive from Chicago and Milwaukee, it provides a nice small mountain for families or individuals looking to simply have a fun day on the slopes. Wilmot also provides night skiing/riding.
